Amerikaanse waardering voor The Links Valley

Twee jaar na opening is de baan opgenomen in de door het tijdschrift samengestelde ranglijst met de Best 9-Hole Golf Courses in the World.
Dit schrijft Golf Magazine over de nieuwe Nederlandse course:
Expert’s take: Situated in an old sand quarry in De Veluwe, the largest heathland area of the Netherlands, this undulating course features height differences of more than 20 yards, something that is quite unusual for courses in the Low country.
Because it took nearly 15 years to secure permits for design, the design team (led by Frank Pont) took years to refine the somewhat complex design concept of a reversible course, following an idea proposed by Tom Simpson some 90 years ago.
The course is a mix of bold landforms, (re)developing heathland, natural sandy waste areas and raised greens sporting mild contours surrounded by lots of short grass. Very few bunkers were used, mostly because they were not needed. Strong emphasis is on the ground game, which works well because the course plays very fast and firm.

Er was al waardering voor The Links Valley. Niet alleen van de experts van de website top50golf.nl maar ook van Nederlandse spelers, zo blijkt uit het hoge cijfer dat golfers geven op de website Leadingcourses.com.
De initiatiefnemers en eigenaren van The Links Valley zijn blij met de waardering van de internationale jury die de banenranglijsten voor Golf Magazine samenstelt.
‘De erkenning voor onze baan is een grote eer”, zegt Mike Woltering namens hen. ‘Het is fantastisch dat Golf Magazine nu voor het eerst ook een ranglijst van de beste 9-holes banen in de wereld heeft gepubliceerd en dat wij hierin staan.’
‘Het heeft er zeker mee te maken dat 9-holes golf de toekomst heeft, ook in Amerika. Wij haken daar met The Links Valley heel goed op in. We onderscheiden ons door een schitterende heiderijke locatie op de Veluwe en we bieden daarnaast met onze reversible course - een baan die in twee richtingen is te spelen - de variatie die een 18-holes baan heeft. Als je de North Course speelt benader je dezelfde greens van een andere kant dan op de South Course en dat maakt The Links Valley heel speciaal.”
Ook golfbaanontwerper Frank Pont is vereerd door de erkenning. ‘Het is prachtig om te zien dat The Links Valley net als andere Nederlandse grootheden als de Koninklijke Haagsche en De Pan door Golf Magazine in de absolute wereldtop wordt geplaatst.’

De Gelderse course is niet de enige baan uit Nederland die de lijst heeft gehaald, ook de Domburgsche Golfclub, de oude linksbaan in Zeeland, komt op de lijst voor en wel op de 33ste plaats:
Expert’s Take: One of the oldest links courses in the Netherlands, situated in the narrow dunes of the province Zeeland.
The layout is understated, following a classic out-and-back routing, where especially the outgoing holes provide the most classic experience playing through, among other things, bomb craters of WWII.
Course is a mix of classic and modern design elements; I would like to see it become more old fashioned again.
